- Below is a review of these two books a BLF Prayer & Praise partner shared with us this past week ...
"Shiny Shoes on Dusty Paths delighted and fed me. Each night I could hardly wait to
sit down to read some more. Abe's first person account of his life and missionary work
with his family was so well written. Very descriptive. I recoiled in horror at many of
the hardships Abe and his wife Mary underwent in the Congo and then even in Metz. Their
dependence on God, their patience during setbacks and delays inspired and encouraged me
in how I want to be as a believer who takes God's Word seriously. Joanne, Abe's daughter,
has done an excellent job pulling all these accounts together in an organized and readable way.
The benefit to the children, growing up in first a 3rd-world country with few material goods
is evident. The sense of adventure, that all were together in this depending-on-God way of life.
Stirs up many longings in me to join the missionary field.
