- This week we are praying for the people and leaders of Vanuatu. Recently appointed
President Tallis Obed Moses, twice moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Vanuatu, studied at the
Sydney Missionary and Bible College in Australia. He and Prime Minister Charlot Salwai lead this
archipelago of 275,000 inhabitants. French and English cultures have influenced Vanuatu since the 1800's.
Praise God for freedom of religion, with over 90% of the islanders professing Christianity. A rededication
of the island to the Lord on May 14, 2006 led thousands to repent and celebrate together. Pray that the
leaders will continue to set an example and live out the motto of Vanuatu, “In God We Stand.” Pray that
Christians will reach out to the Mormons, Baha’i and Muslims who are actively trying to win them.
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction and faithful in prayer.
