- A leader from the Central African Republic (the one who in our recent newsletter was so interested
in the Perspectives translation) is asking for prayer for the volatile security situation in the eastern part of CAR.
According to a recent UN report, one in five Central Africans is either internally displaced or has fled to a neighboring
country (nearly 500,000 refugees live in the subregion, as of May 2017). Please pray for welcome, protection and blessing
for the thousands suffering as a result of the violence, and for peace to return to that land.
- Please pray for the staff of BLF Éditions as they begin their required 3-week summer holiday.
May this be a great time of refreshment and renewal. Pray for safety for those who are traveling, and for meaningful times
to connect with friends and family.
- Please pray for Lebanon and recently appointed President Michel Aoun and Prime Minister Saad Hariri.
Following the collapse of the Ottoman empire after World War I, the five provinces that constitute modern Lebanon came under
the French Mandate of Lebanon, and around 38% of the population speak French according to Organisation Internationale de la
Francophonie’s 2014 French language report.
Lebanon is unique in the Middle East in its protection of religious freedom.
Believers from other Arab countries freely go
to Lebanon for Christian training at good evangelical Bible schools. Pray for healing and forgiveness from 70 years of tragic
communal wars where so much was lost – loved ones, homes, jobs. Many Christians left to seek work and safety. Pray that many
Lebanese come to faith in Jesus while there is much openness. Several hundred former Druze have come to faith and now worship
Christ through a multi-agency partnership that serves them. Please pray too for the churches in Lebanon that are bringing
blessing and hope to the large Syrian refugee population there.
