BLF Day of Prayer & Fasting
- May 7th,
2008
Dear Friends and Co-workers,
As you think of BLF this week, please pray and
praise with us for these items of prayer.
Your participation before His throne of grace in
prayer is a source of great
encouragement to us.
Thought: 'Every element of our own self-reliance
must be put to death by the power of God. The moment
we recognize our complete weakness and our
dependence on Him will be the very moment that the
Spirit of God will exhibit His power.' -Oswald
Chambers
CANADA
Toe-Blake & Linda Roy, Canadian Director
Pray:
Pray for Linda as she recovers from her first carpal
tunnel surgery (May 1st), with the stitches come out
the 15th. Her second surgery is scheduled for May
29th.
Pray for Toe-Blake as he is juggling all the
registration issues for non-Quebec participants of
Quebec Hope 2008. With only 3 months to go for the
main events, Toe-Blake is dealing with 15-20 e-mails
a day. With his secretary down to one-handed typing
he has quite the challenge.
Pray for Hope for Today Ministries, our partners in
planning this mega evangelism event. Pray that God
will bring everything into place in His time.
(Editor: to see a video clip of this event, go to
www.blfusa.org
click on the Quebec Hope 2008, then on the blue
square, "Quebec Espoir 2008".
Pray for us as we seek to raise the remaining 6% of
our personal support and begin raising our annual
office ($10,000) and travel ($10,000) expense funds.
Praise:
Praise the Lord for the 12-day Quebec promotional
tour that Quebec Hope 2008 had April 1st-12th. Each
presentation was enthusiastically received as
hundreds of Quebecers committed their time and
resources to this major Evangelism Campaign.
Praise the Lord that our personal support level is
now at 94%.
Praise the Lord for the more than $5000 in travel
expenses that was covered by our BLF Canada Donkey
Mile program in 2007.
Mark Larson, Board member
Praise: I just got a full time teaching job at a
junior high for the remainder of the school year.
Pray God will use me to touch young lives. My
daughter, Heather, is continuing to learn and grow
many ways through her experience at Capernwray,
Australia.
Prayer request: God's provision of counselors and
other staff for Bear Lake Bible Camp this summer.
Mark
Rob & Priscilla Wiebe, Canadian
Board member
Rob & Priscilla Wiebe, Canadian Board
member and office manager
Rob has decided to go back to school (University) to
pursue a degree enabling him to be a more qualified
Youth Pastor. A number of details have to fall into
place to make this happen. Pray God will guide in
all of these details, financial as well as other.
(Editor's note: we believe God has gifted Rob in
this area of work with young people. He has the
temperment, the energy and the spiritual maturity.
Pray God will lead them clearly in all areas of this
endeavor.)
EUROPE
Alain Stamp, BLF Europe Board President
Please pray for Raphaël Anzenberger, who is
finishing the writing of his first book, “I, Too,
Would Like To Believe”. We would like to have this
book available for Quebec this summer! It is a huge
task.
Mary Cayot, newest missionary to arrive at BLF
Europe,
Praise: I and my luggage arrived safely in France
(May 1). Thanks to all who worked on #18, especially
the room where I'm staying. I'm very blessed.
(Editor: Pray for Mary as she adapts to her new job;
new culture, new living conditions, new..... The
first few weeks are critical. Pray Mary will keep
her eyes focused on the One who called her. He alone
can help her make all these adjustments
appropriately.)
Pray for Bud & Char Kroeker who are presently
visiting family, friends and supporters in the USA.
Pray for renewed contacts, good fellowship and safe
travels for the many miles involved.
BLF Europe,
URGENT PRAYER REQUEST: BLF Europe has been served an
order to appear in court. The buyer of the apartment
we sold last fall is suing BLF Europe, claiming we
hid the fact that the roof was leaking when we sold
him the building. Pray for wisdom as we deal with
this delicate issue in a way that honors God.
BLF Belgium has been trying to sell an un-needed
portion of their land. Pray God will intervene and
allow the process to go through. Funds generated by
this sale are badly needed to care for the running
of the bookstore.
Pray for the two women operating the bookstore:
Nadine and Anne. Pray for volunteers to help manage
the store, as sales cannot support more paid staff
than they already have.
USA
Nathan Phillips, Graphic Artist and long term
returning candidate for France,
With the falling US dollar (against the Euro) and
BLF's 20% adjustment to compensate, Nathan now finds
his support at 86%. His visa for France has been
granted and he has a target date of May 30 for
departure. Pray his support will be completed and he
will not be delayed. Pray for all the last minute
concerns that must be cared for before he leave the
US for an extended time. (He's planning on long term
missions, ie. 4 year term.)
Praise God for good health. I have been running 10
miles (16km) weekly
Please pray for safe travels and that both my
standby flights (thanks to a ‘friend of BLF’) would
go smooth.
Russ and Mary Ann Miller, Florida Reps
Praise the Lord for a good experience with our team
in April. Also for a good trip as we went on to
Africa to see our two sons and their wives, one in
Rwanda and the other in South Sudan. We were able to
help some churches with Sunday School material and
other BLF literature. Even though we took 13 flights
on our trip and there was plenty of opportunity for
things to go wrong, the Lord was faithful to keep us
well the entire trip and our luggage even
accompanied us on each flight. No "lost" baggage!
Pray for safe travels in May as we represent BLF in
the midwestern states. Pray we will be able to
contact some new churches and interest
them in getting involved with BLF ministries.
Mike & Laura Jensen, missionaries on furlough,
Continue to pray for Laura and her family with the
passing of her mother, on April 20.
Pray for Mike & Laura as they visit supporters to
report on their past 4 years of ministry in France.
Pray for wisdom as they seek God's will for the next
phase.
David & Uni McEntee, BLF Alumni,
We had a wonderful visit with Bud and Char as they
traveled to California and visited with family.
We appreciate the opportunity to pray for the
missionaries of BLF, for decisions they make, and
for support to continue in all areas. WE are
especially praying for the Jensen's in the
home-going of Laura's mom and for God's leading in
future direction for them.
(Editor’s note:) Praise God for alumni like David &
Uni. Although they have been States-side for several
years, their hearts and prayers are still focused on
helping to reach the French-speaking world.
Walt & Nancy Zurfluh, West Coast Reps.
Praise for an excellent response at the First
Fundamental Bible Church in Monterey Park, CA. Pray
that the members of two Sunday School classes where
we spoke at that church will continue to show
interest in our ministry.
Praise that our present speaking trip for BLF in
northern California and Oregon is going well. We
have had some good meetings and interest shown in
the IT program. Pray for continued safety in
traveling and as we make new contacts that they will
become vitally involved in BLF's literature
ministry.
We will also be renewing acquaintanceship with
supporters on this trip. Praise for their longtime
personal support and prayers.
Pray for our participation in Harvest Gathering, a
large mission conference in Elk Grove, CA on June
6-7, 2008. We are trusting the Lord for good
contacts for BLF in that event.
Pray for our granddaughter, Robyn, as she makes some
decisions about her future ministry among Mormon
youth in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Impression Team Program
Praise God for what He's done in our Impression
Teams program. We have 8 teams booked for 2008 and
already 6 booked for next year. PTL. IF you would
like to take a team, act quickly or you may have to
wait for 2010.
Pray for Tyran Laws, IT Co-ordinator. He's a
Master’s student at Wheaton College and has his
trimester finals this week. Last exam is May 8.
50th Class Reunion! Wheaton College
graduating class of 1958 is having its 50-year
reunion this coming weekend. Several from that class
are active in BLF: Bud & Char Kroeker, Russ & Mary
Ann Miller, and Bob & Dottie Holmstrom (former BLF
Board President). Praise God for the class of '58.
What an incredible contribution to missions, and BLF
in particular, this class has made.
Thom & Sharon Schutt, USA Board member
Pray for Thom & Sharon as they accompany their
daughter & husband to China for May 1 - 15 to adopt
a child. Pray for the dozens of details that need to
be cared for to make this happen. Pray for safe
travels. Pray for God's guidance & peace throughout
the trip.
David Brown, USA Board member
Pray for David's health. He has had serious heart
problems in the past and has several current health
concerns that require our prayers.
IT Matching Grant Vehicle Fund, Pray God will
touch the hearts of many to contribute to this
project. The vehicles are badly needed but funds are
slow in coming.
Sunday School Curriculum materials for Africa:
A container (20 tons) of SS materials was shipped
from Brussels Oct. 2007. It has not yet arrived at
its destination. Please continue to pray for God's
hand of protection over this valuable shipment. Pray
it will arrive soon at Gemena, Congo. The national
church is eagerly waiting for this material for it's
churches but also for its schools.
New House on the horizon:
BLF has an opportunity to secure housing for its
short-term missionaries, Impression teams, host
couples and short-term missionaries. Pray as this
project is developed and makes its way through the
system that God would be in charge and that if He
wants BLF to buy this house, He would clearly guide
all those concerned to come to the same conclusion.
Staffing needs:
Pray that God would provide the additional staff
needed in Europe. (For a full list go to the BLF
website and click on Opportunities.)
Quebec Hope 2008:
Pray that hundreds from the USA and Canada will join
the few Christians in Quebec for the evangelistic
event, Quebec Hope 2008, July 31 thru Aug. 10. Pray
God will prepare hearts in Quebec to receive the
good news of salvation and that many will come to
faith in Jesus Christ.
Harry & Mars Enns, Executive Director
We plan on taking an Impressions Team from Wheaton
Bible Church, our home church, from Sept. 11-22,
this year. Pray for God's intervention that we might
find the people He has chosen to participate on this
team. Pray WBC will become a strong supporting
church to help reach the French-speaking world. They
recently adopted us as missionaries they support
financially. We are thrilled beyond words. Pray we
can help WBC develop a strong concern for the
French-speaking world. |
