BLF Day of Prayer & Fasting, Wednesday - April 2nd, 2008

Dear Friends and Co-workers,

As you think of BLF this week, please pray and praise with us for these items of prayer.
Your participation at the throne is a source of great encouragement to us.

CANADA

Toe-Blake & Linda Roy (Canada Director, Quebec)
1. Toe-Blake is currently on a 10-day Round Robin Missions Conference in PA.  Pray for him as he presents the needs of BLF Canada as well as Quebec Hope 2008.
2. Linda is meeting another orthopedic surgeon on April 2, regarding Carpal Tunnel Surgery. She has been on one waiting list for 8 months and we are praying that this surgeon will put her on a short list so she can have surgery soon. Pray that God will give her the strength to accomplish herdaily task in spite of the severity of the pain.
3. Pray for Toe-Blake as he coordinates the evangelism teams from across the US and Canada who plan to take part in Quebec Hope 2008.

Rob & Priscilla Wiebe (Canada office)
Pray for Rob as he has some big changes coming up. He has decided to apply to the local Christian Mennonite University so as to pursue a Bachelors in Christian Ministry, focusing on Youth Ministry. If it is God's will, he will be starting classes in September. Between now and then, we will be requiring student loans for tuition as well as student aid. Rob will continue to work part time for the church during his part time studies, but will be quitting his work at UPS. We feel such peace about this move - although it is unsettling financially, we can't help but know that this is where God is leading. He has been faithful up until now and we hold to His promise that He will continue!!

EUROPE

Roger & Rosemary Saxe (France)
We are thankful to be well in spite of some allergy issues since there is an increase in allergins around here now.

We have finished the folding of the Illustrated Bible and have everything ready for the next team to do some assembly and stitching on the Bible. They will be a great help!

Sunday while lunching at a restaurant, we noticed three people at a near table watching and listening to our conversation in English. When we left, Rosemary told them, as she passed their table, that we are Americans but live near here. That started an interesting conversation about what we are doing here at the print shop. So Roger went to the car and got one of our free New Testaments which we gave to them. They seemed quite happy to get it too!!  Man does not live by bread alone ………:<) Casual contacts with people are coming easier now, pray for wisdom and grace to make use of these for a witness.

Praise the Lord for Kevin & Debbi Eggleston who are doing a fine !!!!!! job of supervising the renovations. Now that regular teams will start to arrive (April 4) they will turn their attention to coordinating the teams.

Pray for the Europe staff. The shortage of staff is taking its toll as they are putting in more hours than they should. Françoise, the Editor in particular, has been going through a difficult time of exhaustion due to her heavy workload.

Pray for the sale of the BLF Europe property in Belgium (not the building). There have been unexpected hurtles to jump, and unavoidable delays. Pray for God’s working in the hearts of officials involved in the transaction.

USA

Walter & Nancy Zurfluh (Reps)
Praise for the encouraging interest in BLF on the campuses of 2 Christian colleges and a seminary. A significant amount of BLF literature was given out. Excellent conversations with students and even faculty members were held. Praise that a speaking opportunity was scheduled in a local church as a result of my being on a seminary campus.

Pray for three mission conferences in which we will participate at Fuller Seminary (April 2-3), Biola University (Apr. 15-18), and Mission Expo (Apr. 25-26) and a speaking engagement in a nearby church on April 27. We need the Lord's strength and guidance in these meetings.

Pray for Walt who is experiencing lightheadedness, probably from a combination of medication for blood pressure and atril fibrillation. Pray that the doctor can correctly diagnose his condition. Praise that Walt's sister Marie Else and cousin Carol Mead are improving in health.

Please continue to pray for nearly three and one-half weeks of meetings in May in northern California and Oregon. Pray that Walt's health will permit us to go on this important speaking trip.

Russ and Mary Ann Miller
Praise God for wonderful family times we're having with our daughter Susan and her husband Scott and our four grandchildren. They were with us this weekend and we built many happy memories together.

Pray for us, Richard & Elaine Wischmeier, and Bob & Renee James as we leave on Thursday, April 3 for France. We'll work part of the time in Drulingen, painting the France for Christ headquarters, and the rest of the time in the bindery at BLF. Pray for safety in travel, that all of us will stay well, that we'll be an encouragement to all with whom we work, that all we do will glorify the Lord.

When the others return home, the two of us will continue to Africa. The first week, we'll be with our oldest son Ron and his wife Shannon in Kigali, Rwanda. The second week with our other son Jon and his wife Heather in Yei, South Sudan. Pray for good contacts for BLF, especially in Rwanda. Also pray our visit will be an encouragement to our kids.

Pray for Chuck and Ruth Prentice and their daughter Carol. Chuck and Ruth planned to be on our team, but Carol has had a medical crisis and will be under special treatment until the end of June, so they can't go at this time. Pray that Carol will be helped by the treatments and that Chuck and Ruth will be able to go on a later team this year.

Mike & Laura Jensen (CA)
Update on Laura’s mom, Carole: Carole is in the hospital again. She has had a few falls, was dehydrated and has a urinary tract infection among other things. She is very weak and weighs only 104 lbs - not much to fight with. Pray that Carole finds peace and healing. Laura is struggling with watching her mother’s health fail. Mike is struggling with watching Laura deal with the situation just as he is scheduled to be traveling. We know that God is in control and we are where God wants us. For how long, again only God knows.

Andrea returned from Africa with many tale and adventures, she felt so blessed to be there. Thanks to all who were behind her, may you be blessed. Prayer for her school tuition which is due this month, about $3500.

Nathan Philips (WA)
Praise God:
- My family and I safetly arrived in El Paso, TX driving from Seattle, WA. We are here now to take some of my sister’s things down and see her and her husband, Jacob, before they move to Germany with the Army. Despite lots of snow and a blown tire, we will be back in Seattle on Sunday.
- He supplied me with 100% of my pledged financial support. Thank you for your prayers and gifts. God is faithful!
- I now have all of the documents to apply for my French visa.

Please pray that:
- My trip to the French consulate in San Francisco to apply for my visa would go well, and that God’s hand would be with the visa application process.
- I would be organized in the many tasks involved in moving to France.

Mary Cayot (CA)
Praise the Lord!:
- I'm scheduled to leave April 28, spend a few days in Chicago for last minute training, and arrive in France May 1. :)
- My support is nearly 70% and growing.
- I have someone to stay in my house while I'm gone.

Sue Gross (US office)
Please pray for my mom (Virginia) who has been sick for over 2 weeks.  She just started antibiotics (for high fever and possible pneumonia). Pray for healing.

Harry & Mars Enns (Executive Director)
Praise the Lord for a wonderful work team we participated with in France last week. The progress was encouraging and the fun and fellowship uplifting!

Please pray we’ll find 6 people from Wheaton Bible Church to fill the team we plan to lead in September.

Harry & Mars Enns

We praise & thank God for all the friends and supporters of BLF.
Without your continued prayer support for this ministry,
our efforts would be futile.

May God bless & encourage each of you.

The Work Continues ...

What a difference two weeks makes!  The construction team arrived March 14 and after just two weeks, two of the three bedrooms are finished, the new bathroom is mostly tiled, the living room and dining room walls are finished and the yard is cleaner than it's been in at least 25 years!  A large dumpster (7 cubic meters) was delivered, filled and hauled away. The team worked hard, long hours to complete all these tasks.  Here's a detailed list of work accomplished:  All drywall hung, taped, and mudded, new bathroom walls tiled and floor mostly tiled (The team could have finished the floor but the cool moist weather prevented the floor tiles from drying enough to walk on), living and dining room walls textured and painted, woodwork installed last year stained, flooring laid in two of the three bedrooms, closet doors and wood trim installed, window trim finished in master bedroom, master bedroom paneling replaced, crown molding installed in master bedroom, yard mowed and weeded, trash and junk (oops! I meant stuff!) hauled away, rear shed cleaned, old rusty poles and stakes removed from the yard.

Now that's beaucoup travailler!

We praise God for the work He accomplished through this team!  We currently have no other teams or individuals scheduled for construction for 2008.

Despite all the work accomplished these last two weeks, there is still work to be done.  There are time slots during the year that small teams or individuals could fill.  We are asking that those who wish to volunteer have construction skills and be able to work with little direction.  Work details still remaining include: additional laminate flooring installation, new bathroom fixture and ceiling installation, downstairs bathroom complete renovation (after completion of the new bath) utility shed renovation, patio and landscaping work, and exterior painting.  If you have an interest in helping please contact Harry at the BLFUSA office for available dates.
